History

1975: Zia Eghterafi founded one of Riyadh’s first professional retail optical outlets – “Zarka Al-Yamama”.

1980: The growing demand for optical services in the region prompted him to expand the business and install the first glass lab in Saudi Arabia.

1995: The father-and-son duo Zia Eghterafi & Poya Eghterafi set up yet another state of the art Lens Factory to be among the very first Organic Lens Manufacturing and coating plants in the region. They also acquired exclusive Distribution and Manufacturing rights for Rodenstock Eyewear and Lenses for Saudi Arabia.

2002: EGMA was founded and operation shifted to the U.A.E. EGMA set up a lens factory with the most advanced technology available at the time. EGMA also signed an exclusive Distribution agreement with Rodenstock to cover the GCC region.

2004: EGMA notched up its style factor by becoming the exclusive agent for the glamorous Porsche Design Eyewear and started growing its Eyewear Division.

2006: EGMA launched its International Licensee Office program by opening its first Licensed Office in Qatar. EGMA Qatar started supplying and serving the local market with EGMA’s service offerings.

2006: EGMA started a new division – Optical Instruments and Edgers by becoming the GCC’s exclusive dealer for INDO professional optical equipment.

2009: EGMA became the GCC distributor for Flair and handmade German optical frames.

2010: EGMA Optical Supplies was established as a Free Zone Company in Dubai Silicon Oasis, more about paving the way to serve the international market with faster turnaround times.

2010: EGMA became the official distributor of Dunhill and Mercedes-Benz eyewear in the GCC.

2011: EGMA became the GCC dealer for Charops, Visslo and ViewM Optical instruments and edgers.

2012: EGMA became the MENA dealer for Rodenstock Professional refraction units.

2015: EGMA started operations in Dallas, Texas, USA
